We also get amazing photos so you can see exactly how beautiful they are. Our team members recently went to see our luxury holiday homes and cottages in the UK, travelling around the Cotswolds. They’ve written us a blog about their adventures, which you can read below!
Tell us where you’ve been…
I wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city so I took a quick road trip from London and stayed in Cheltenham in the Cotswolds – with a few pit(cake)-stops on the way.
This drive is perfect because it basically forces you to drive through some beautiful towns to get from London to Cheltenham. As I’m new to England, I’m keen to make as many stops and see as much as possible!
What was the highlight of the trip?
I’m a sucker for little country roads covered in canopies of greenery. On the way home, we took the back roads to the beautiful town of Bibury from Cheltenham and it was full of these sweet winding little lanes. Gorgeous. Bibury is full to the brim with tourists and it’s easy to see why as it’s so picturesque. There are so many picture-perfect little towns in the Cotswolds! Most of them are well worth pulling over for.
What and where was your best foodie moment?
For sweets and coffee, it was a little cafe called The Modern Baker. We found this gem as we passed through the outskirts of Oxford. These guys are super talented at baking naughty foods with healthy ingredients – and they do a top-notch chai latte! I enjoyed a sourdough cinnamon scroll as well as a cheeky bit of British sponge cake. There are fantastic pubs galore in this whole region as well (of course – it’s the UK!) so I may have enjoyed some hearty pub grub between cake-stops! Oh, and also the ice cream made in the Cotswolds is amazing. I had ginger and honey – so creamy.
For anyone travelling to the Cotswolds region, what can’t they miss?
If you want a spot of shopping than Cheltenham is for you. You have gorgeous tree lined streets, quirky boutiques and it’s foodie heaven thanks to all the little artisan shops. Another gorgeous little spot is Bourton-on-the-Water, which is just perfect for a leisurely walk and cup of coffee with a green and leafy view. I feel like the best way to see this area is just to drive! Stop off in as many little villages as possible and soak up the peacefulness of this beautiful part of England.
